Sell Ores Beginner Strategy
The first-hour strategy every new player should follow.
Most new Sell Ores players hit a wall around the 30-minute mark because they keep chasing bigger rolls before their Drill is ready. This guide explains the first-hour strategy — the upgrade order, the roll band and the Floor unlock timing that give a brand-new account the smoothest climb to Floor 3.
If you have not redeemed the active codes yet, do that first. The bundle on the Active Codes page adds 30 hours of Time Skips plus a few hundred Cash. Without that bundle, the first-hour strategy takes about twice as long to execute.
The first 10 minutes
- Finish the tutorial.
- Open the gear menu and redeem every active code.
- Claim your Diary Rewards for the day.
- Roll your first Common Ore and slot it.
- Spend the first Cash bundle on Drill Level 2.
Do not chase Mythic rolls yet. The cost is too high and your Drill cannot process them fast enough to justify the spend.
The next 20 minutes
Your Drill will be processing Common Ores automatically while you read this guide. Spend the Cash as it lands on three upgrades in this order:
- Drill Level 3 — Doubles your processing speed.
- Ore Speed Level 2 — Compounds with Drill Level for a 3x processing boost.
- Drill Level 5 — The biggest single Cash upgrade on Floor 1.
Avoid Ore Level and Luck until your Drill is at Level 5. Both upgrades are trap choices at this stage because they only matter once you can process ores fast enough to see the return.
Save the Floor 2 unlock
The Floor 2 unlock costs 10,000 Cash and unlocks Rare Ores. Save this in your wallet rather than spending it on rolls — the Rare Ores are 10x more valuable than Common Ores and the upgrade is permanent.
A common mistake is unlocking Floor 2 too early and then having no Cash buffer for Rare rolls. Aim for 15,000 Cash in the wallet before you unlock — that gives you a 5,000 Cash buffer for your first few Rare rolls.
Move to Floor 2
Once your wallet hits 15,000 Cash, unlock Floor 2 and switch to Rare rolls only. Iron, Amber and Topaz are all strong Rare Ores, but Iron processes the fastest, so prioritise Iron first if you are chasing the Money Making loop.
Diary Rewards schedule
Diary Rewards reset every 24 hours. The bundle typically includes:
- 100–500 Cash
- 1–3 starter ores (Iron, Amber, Topaz)
- 1 Small Growth Gem (every seven days)
The Small Growth Gem is the most valuable weekly drop — save it for a Pet you intend to keep rather than spending it on a starter B-tier Pet.
Common beginner mistakes
- Chasing Mythic rolls on Floor 1. Mythic rolls cost more than Rare rolls and your Drill cannot process them. Wait until Floor 5.
- Ignoring Diary Rewards. Daily Cash adds up fast in the first week.
- Buying Ore Level before Drill Level 5. Ore Level only matters once you can process ores fast.
- Spending the first code bundle on rolls. Use the Time Skip + Cash to unlock Floor 2 first.
- Hoarding Cash. Sell every Common Ore on sight. Banks do not earn interest in Sell Ores.
What comes next
Once you have cleared Floor 2 with Drill Level 5 and Ore Speed Level 5, jump to the Money Making guide for the next-tier loop. For the Floor unlock order, see the Floors & Unlocks page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should I upgrade first in Sell Ores?
Drill Level first, always. Ore Speed is a close second. Luck and Ore Level should wait until you are processing ores faster than you can sell them.
When should I unlock Floor 2?
Save 15,000 Cash before unlocking Floor 2. The unlock itself is 10,000 Cash and you want a 5,000 Cash buffer for your first Rare rolls.
Are Diary Rewards worth claiming?
Yes. Diary Rewards are free Cash and ores every day. They scale modestly as you clear higher Floors, so even veteran players should claim them.
Should I redeem codes before or after the tutorial?
After. The gear menu is locked behind the tutorial reward. Codes never expire from inactivity, so the order is tutorial → codes → Diary Rewards → first roll.
